A short musical biog.
Early influences were, John Renbourn and Bert Jansch of Pentangle for acoustic guitar. Paul Kossoff of Free remains my main influence as regards electric guitar. Early 80's, I became the guitar half of "Jasmin", with Yvonne Thomas on vocals.". Whenever asked who "really" taught me to play guitar I've never hesitated to say Yve, first / and John second. Whilst a great piano player, Yve never actually even played piano at our gigs but her philosophy was that she just wanted "the best guitar player in town" as "her" guitar player, and by the skin of my teeth, I got the gig. Yve constantly and very gently pushed me to be a better and better musician / guitar player, and I owe her more than I can possibly write here. Too many gigs to mention, but two support spots come to mind. first at Theatre Clwyd when we we got two "encores" supporting "Five Hand Reel"and second at the Ewan McCall & Peggy Seeger gig in Manchester, where we just absolutely, blew the the roof off the hall, and bless them, Ewan & Peggy where the first to hug us both as we came off stage. Happy days. Whenever John played in the vicinity in those days, it became "custom and practice" for us all to go to for a meal after the gig, and around that time, Keith Offord had organised a concert for the John Renbourn Group, at which I shared one of the opening spots. Shortly after that concert, I joined John on stage at the Beaumaris folk club for a couple of duets, and we subsequently became friends. For various personal reasons, 1997 to 2004, I basically never even touched a guitar, however, an e-mail from John got me back playing again in 2004, and this web site and the subsequent music is due to both John's support, and encouragement.
