John Renbourn
Whilst we first shared a stage playing some (for my part) rather dodgy duets about 23 years ago. These days, John's been there for me through thick and thin over the last 15 years. He's first and foremost a true and trusted friend. With an unparalleled 30 year body of work, both recorded and published, " the best fingerstyle guitar player in the world " quote in a world wide acoustic guitar magazine early this year says it all.
Dr. Ruth Dockwray
John drove down from Scotland to see Ruth playing a gig with me last year. To say that her playing just blew everyone in the club away, including myself and John is the understatement of the year. She is an extraordinary musician and other than John, quite simply the best musician that I've ever played with ( John agrees !)
Keith Offord
If anyone deserves to inherit John's mantle it would be Keith. We've always slightly teased Keith that he is "the worst kept secret on the the current folk scene" but the truth is that he is. Keith played on my CD Voyage of the Dunbrody some years ago and ( quite rightly) stole the CD . He is an incredible guitar player, but far more importantly these days one my closest, and most trusted friends.
Phil Hare
Like Keith, Phil; and I go back to our early twenties just trying to get gigs. Phil's actually playing rings around some of the "name" guitar players on the scene these days. Very possibly just the best "live" guitar player on the UK folk scene at the moment.
